Frequently asked questions
You are welcome to bring any medicated shampoos that have been prescribed by your vet. We also offer a variety of hypoallergenic and soothing shampoos. Talk to your groomer to determine the best course of action.
No. It is best that you are not with your pets during the session. Your pet will not be able to relax completely and enjoy their experience. The groomer needs to be the one in charge of the session and having Mom or Dad there ends up being a distraction rather than helping
It will take a while for your pet to get its grooming completely done. The groomer will call you when your pet is done. Please do not “drop by” if you haven’t yet heard from your groomer.
Your pet will have to be on a leash or in a carrier. We understand that your furry friend may be very well mannered and listens to your every command, but there can be too much excitement and many different variables, mainly other dogs that may not be so well-behaved. Having your pet on a leash or in a carrier ensures that everyone comes in and is able to go home without incident.
As long as you let us know at least 24-hours in advance, there is no fee. However, in cases of same-day cancellations or “no-call no-show” a fee will be charged, not to exceed the cost of your standard grooming charge.
Yes, everything is now done on our reservation app, Paw Partner.(https://barkavenuemhk.com/get-started/) Along with customer and pet information, we will need the release forms signed & a payment method on file. Your pet's up-to-date vaccine records can be uploaded to that site, emailed, or brought with you.
The dogs are outside for as much time as they can be as long as the weather and yard conditions cooperate. There are water buckets out and they are monitored to ensure everyone is playing nice. When the weather is particularly nice we break out the pool! On hot days- over 80 degrees- we do rotate them in more often to be in the air conditioning. Cold days, we let them tell us when they are ready to come in.
No problem. We are able to accommodate this. We will have your pup go out alone or with one of us for some catch or a nice walk.
We accept cash, check, or credit cards- we even have the hover/wavey pay thing. You can pay each day at the end of the day. If you plan on having a full week, let us know and you can pay at the end of the week. You can even prepay if you want!
Yes. Cats will be put into our cat room. If they are cool and easygoing, they might get to be out and about. Most likely, though, they will have to be in one of our condos.
We have 3 yards that we use. The north yard is about the size of a big backyard. The big yard is about an acre. The play yard is our segregated yard that is about 1500 square feet. This yard is concreted and has a very big carport covering it.
Yep. Either bring their lunch or we can give them some of our food. Let us know and it will be offered. Know that sometimes, the play is happening and appetites do disappear from time to time.
We put the pups in kennels when they are inside. Our indoor area is climate controlled. The dogs are either put in single runs or in groups of three to four in our extra-large kennels so the play can continue. Every kennel has a water bucket and bedding as needed. Some are even brought into the office to hang out with the Hoomuns.
We get to know dogs on an individual basis and keep them with other pups that have the same energy level and social skills. Puppies will transition from group to group as they grow. There are three group colors we use:
• Blue: These are very low key, older dogs, small dogs that just want to catch some rays and sniff around. There is some play when we have a younger group of smalls or puppies.
• Green: Medium to large adolescent pups that play and play and play. They generally don't have any concept of personal space and don't care. They just want to play!
• Yellow: Shy, scared, new, aggressive and unpredictable pups fit into this category. Dogs with this designation go out by themselves or with their siblings. The first three mentioned may eventually be transitioned to the other groups as they get comfortable with us and their surroundings.
Yes. Probably. Yes. From November to May, the grass in our yards goes dormant. That means dirt. Add some water and you've got the best time ever! We will hose them off if they get too gross, just please understand that we want them to have a good time. You might give us a time that you intend to pick up so we can minimize the mess.
No. You can bring your pet out for a half-day. Anything less than 5 hours is considered that.
We first do a quick evaluation and ask you some behavior questions. If they are hesitant, we will put them out alone and likely bring them into the office to be with us to help them get used to us and we them. If they are happy-go-lucky they will be introduced to an appropriate group. If all goes well, we let them play. There will likely be some adjustment as we get to know each other.
